Are you cyber secure?

At Clea, we prefer to focus on how tech can boost the impact of your non-profit as opposed to how it may harm you. However, in the modern world, being savvy about cyber security is critical.

A security incident ultimately could prevent you from delivering your programs. You risk losing funds, data, governing documents, key project files and the trust of your supporters. Moreover, adequate cyber security is essential for GDPR compliance and you could be financially penalised for not effectively protecting your data.

It all sounds a bit apocalyptic but making sure your systems are robust and resilient is relatively simple when you know how. Essentially, cyber security is the digital equivalent of making sure all the doors and windows are closed and locked.

We are not reinventing the wheel here and must credit the informative and comprehensive work delivered by the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). We work with our non-profit clients to ensure that they adhere to the NCSC’s Small Charity Guidelines. Taking it to the next level, we aspire to implement their 10 Steps to Cyber Security – comprehensive guidance which is used by the majority of FTSE350 companies.

Ultimately cyber security is an ever-moving target and non-profits cannot afford to become complacent. Some steps are deceptively simple and it almost seems unnecessary to point them out. However, with ‘123456’ and ‘password’ the most used passwords for the last two years running, you cannot assume common sense is common sense.

Working with Clea

Our first step is always ensuring your cyber security. We implement a traffic light system so you can clearly see where you sit in relation to the specific core risks facing your organisation. We detail how you can move from red light critical to green light secure. We train your teams so a healthy system is maintained and all risks are minimised.

Check out our four-pillar approach as a starting point to cyber security and digital peace of mind. For a more comprehensive guide, training for your teams and responsive cyber security support at affordable rates, please get in touch with our non-profit team at connect@clea.tech.

Investment in cyber security is increasingly imperative for the sector… and may in the longer term prove cheaper than repairing the damage after a cyber-attack.
